One of my absolute favorite stories, “The Way We Are Lifted,” now appears in FEARFUL FATHOMS: COLLECTED TALES OF AQUATIC TERROR (Vol. 1), a new anthology from Scarlet Galleon Publications. This story previously appeared in a Lovecraftian collection a few years ago, but due to publishing setbacks, it didn’t find much of an audience upon release. So, it’s nice to have it available once again, and expanded to the appropriate length—clocking in at a sizeable 7,500 words.
The story is set seven years after an apocalyptic flood, where the last of humanity survives by living in garden colonies on the top floor of skyscrapers. Here, women are required to work and to bear offspring for their male captors. This is the life eleven-year-old Madison comes to accept, until one day she spots a capsized boat in the floodwaters. With the help of her best friend, they escape through the twisting hallways and elevator shafts, searching for the single boat that could deliver them to safety. But little do they know, something far more sinister lurks in the waters below.
A special thanks to Mark Parker for accepting my story, and to Luke Spooner for creating such stunning artwork based on my work. It’s nice to finally show this picture off :)

I tend to be kind of picky with my musical tastes. Thankfully, I found a channel on Youtube called Stoned Meadow of Doom, which posts news bands in the southern/stoner rock category. I've always loved catchy grooves and good vocals (The Sword, COC, Witchcraft).
Anyway, below are some newer albums I really dig. Woodhawk's debut album Beyond the Sun is the newest discovery. Toundra's third album (III) is great for writing. And then there's The Sword's Warp Riders, one of my favorite prog rock albums. All are under $10.00 on Amazon in MP3.
For the past few months I've been working on a number of personal projects, including play-testing my new board game, creating an independent publishing company (Dark Peninsula Press), and spiffing up my new office. I haven't been writing as much lately, so I decided to address this concern by giving my office some much needed attention. So I sat down and polished up a piece I wrote last year, then I sent it off to a publisher.
Below are some pics of my office. And yes, that is an actual samurai sword on top of the bookshelf. Also, the Grindhouse and Pulp Fiction posters are not reprints, but actual copies from the theatrical releases (I used to be a projectionist). I just picked up the typewriter, an Olivetti Lettera 32, and also some ink cartridges. Hopefully it still works.
