Just came across this little review at PopHorror.com for my story, "The Candle and the Darkness," appearing in Blood Rites. Nice to see someone enjoyed my story so much!

“The Candle and the Darkness” by Aric Sundquist – Definitely one of the best in the collection, taking place during three nights when darkness overtakes the world to claim unbelievers. A young girl is protected only by the light of a blessed candle. But candles don’t last forever. The ending is delightfully sadistic, reminiscent of the tales of Ambrose Bierce and Charles Birkin. 5/5

Amazing artwork for my story, "The Way We Are Lifted."

One of my absolute favorite stories, “The Way We Are Lifted,” now appears in Fearful Fathom Vol. 1: Tales of Aquatic Terror, a new anthology from Scarlet Galleon Publications. This story previously appeared in a Lovecraftian collection a few years ago, but due to publishing setbacks, it didn’t find much of an audience upon release. So, it’s nice to have it available once again, and expanded to the appropriate length—clocking in at a sizeable 7,500 words. The story is set seven years after an apocalyptic flood, where the last of humanity survives by living in a garden colony on the top floor of a skyscraper.

A special thanks to Mark Parker for accepting my story, and to Luke Spooner for creating such stunning artwork based on my work. It’s nice to finally show this picture off :)

Abodyemigphobia is the fear of the visceral aspects of the human body. Mutilation, alteration, and disfigurement at the epicenter of horror for many ages. In body horror we not only find something to fear, but we learn to fear ourselves. How can one fear themselves? Why would something so natural disturb generations of readers?

Gehenna & Hinnom is honored to present the Year's Best Body Horror 2017 Anthology, the most disturbing and blasphemous collection of horror to ever be read by human eyes. Enter the morose. Embrace the Unknown.
